Subject: Offensive Cartoon - Metro 16/02/05
I would like to complain about your 'Brook' cartoon printed in Metro Weds 16th Feb 2005.
In light of his sudden turn of flu, the caption depicts Michael Jackson in a hospital bed with a doctor exclaiming "Great news Michael, you're still looking a little pale".
As you well know, Michael Jackson has confirmed on many occasion that he suffers from Vitiligo - a skin disorder that has caused him to lose pigmentation.
I find this (unfunny) cartoon completely offensive and insensitive to Vitiligo sufferers across the UK as it demeans both their physical and psychological suffering from this disorder.
I think that a full printed apology is in-order for those who suffer from this skin disease. Would you find it so funny if someone made such a low-brow jibe about Cancer?
I have also forwarded this complaint to the National Vitiligo Society and the Press Complaints Commission to see if they find it so 'amusing'.
