Although I swore never again, it seems that this weekend I have to haul myself through the hellish Saturday-morning conditions of Ikea to pick up a couple of furniture items.

Firstly, I need ANOTHER DVD shelf - My collection is well over 300 titles, and coupled with my CD and VHS collection, the 5 shelves I have up at present just aren't enough.
I need to get me another foil-silver coloured "Benno" - possibly mankind's greatest modern creation simply because no place else seems to have grasped the simple fact that people tend to have more than a mere dozen or so DVDs that need to be stored.
I love the high-capacity storage of the Benno range (pictured below) which cost £25 each, as usual.

Secondly, I need some sort of shelving unit/cabinet to place our various picture frames and ornaments. Index had a nice glass one in their closing down sale, but alas, I left it far too late and none of their London stores have any stock available. Solution? - Ikea again! Someone recommended me a "Detolf" which is almost entirely glass apart from a faux-beech top and base with an internal cabinet light
. Unfortunately, pseudo-beech isn't exactly going to match my silver and black living-room/home-cinema colour scheme, so I'm either going to have to paint the wood either Black or foil-silver or buy an appropriately coloured piece of wood from B&Q, cut exactly to the required size. Either way, some customisation will be involved.
Best thing about the Detolf is that I can allocate an entire shelf to my complete collection of Star Wars Episode 1 (as well as Anakin-to-Vader range of) figures and display them professionally and unashamably!
The Detolf is pictured below. and best of all, its only £35!!

*Preparatory mental note - when in Ikea, AVOID dodgy Swedish hotdogs at all costs, regardless of the cost!
