Martin Bashir to be found in contempt of court!

In the reconstruction of yesterday's courtroom action, a few minutes were devoted to a line of questioning by Michael Jackson’s defence lawyer, Thomas Mesereau that I didn't see reported anywhere.

Mesereau asked ‘Living with Michael Jackson’ journalist/Documentry-maker Martin Bashir: "To obtain Michael Jackson's statement that nothing sexual ever happens in his bedroom, with children did you tell him that his relationship with children makes you weep" (Comments which Jackson’s own cameras picked up and used in a rebuttal documentry).

Boutros (ABC / Bashir’s lawyer) objected, Judge Melville overruled the objection and gestured to Bashir to answer the question, Bashir refused.

Mesereau then asked Bashir essetially the same question a few more times, changing only the flattery that Bashir applied to Michael: "To obtain Michael Jackson's statement that nothing sexual ever happens in his bedroom, with children did you tell him that x y z" Each time, Melville overruled Bashir's lawyer's objection but Bashir refused to answer.

Does anyone get what Mesereau's strategy is here?

And who else is looking forward to Bashir's next visit to the courtroom, during which he will have the options:

1. Answer the questions now
2. Get thrown in jail and then answer the questions

The defence are dominating this trial – HARDCORE!
